Johnathan A. Collins, DVM

Dr. Collins came to HCVC in the summer of 2005 before becoming the practice owner with his wife Angela in 2012. He is a 2004 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he stayed on and worked in the Production Management Medicine department at the veterinary school where he helped provide veterinary service to local farmers as well as teach senior veterinary students. Dr. Collins also attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate education where he met Angela, who is a native of Halifax County. They returned to the area to be near family and help with the family farm. Dr. Collins' interests include small animal dermatology and beef cattle herd management. In his spare time Dr. Collins enjoys raising purebred angus cattle and spending time with Angela and their daughters Avary and Aubrey.

Angela McDowell Collins, DVM

Dr. Collins became the owner of HCVC in 2012.  She is a 2005 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.  She grew up in Halifax County on her family's purebred Angus and tobacco farm.  After graduating from Halifax County High School she attended Virginia Tech where she received her undergraduate degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences.  Dr. Collins' interests include small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and large animal ultrasound.  In her time away from the practice she enjoys working with her three dogs Lilly, Penny, and Jasmine, gardening, cooking, and spending time with Avary and Aubrey. 

Brandon Mallard, DVM

Dr. Mallard is originally from Concord, North Carolina. He attended NC State University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Animal Science in 2011.  He stayed at NC State for veterinary school, graduating from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. He enjoys all aspects of both small and large animal medicine. Dr. Mallard is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. He is married to his wife Tracy, a Halifax native. He has two dogs, Abby and Nala, and one cat, Nigel. He is an avid NASCAR fan and enjoys cheering on his NC State Wolfpack at football and basketball games.
